Powercor undertook a comprehensive project at Tonbridge School with the primary objective of significantly enhancing the school’s sustainability credentials and reducing its carbon emissions. This was achieved through the design, installation, and commissioning of a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic (PV) system, aligning closely with the school’s ambitions to embrace renewable energy and reduce reliance on grid-supplied electricity.

A core aim of the initiative was to decrease the school’s dependence on the national electricity grid by generating clean energy on-site. This transition not only supports carbon reduction goals but also positions the school for long-term energy cost savings. Powercor responded to this challenge by designing a bespoke SolarEdge PV system. The system was meticulously tailored to fit the unique architectural features of the school while maximising energy generation based on specific building characteristics.

This included securing the necessary Distribution Network Operator (DNO) connection agreements, ensuring the system’s seamless integration into the existing infrastructure.

The commissioning process was managed in close coordination with the appropriate regulatory bodies to confirm compliance and operational readiness.
